This is an amazing opportunity to get
real-world TV production experience, learn-by-doing,
and interact directly with government officials.

Milton High Graduation
LIVE Coverage
The Milton High School Class of 2019 will graduate on Sunday, June 2.
MATV will broadcast the 2019 Commencement Exercises LIVE from the Copeland Field House beginning at 2pm on Sunday, June 2, on town-wide cable on the Education channel (Comcast 22/RCN 15).
A live stream of the event will also be available via the MATV Video OnDemand website at the following URL: http://milton.vod.castus.tv/vod/?live=ch3&nav=live
DVDs of the ceremony will be available through MATV for $15 each. Please contact us at info@miltonaccesstv.org or 617-698-0814 to request DVDs.
MATV will re-air the ceremonies at 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. on the Government channel beginning the week after graduation as soon as possible.

Orientation
Want to know how to get started at MATV?
Come learn about all the different opportunities MATV has to offer.
This class is a prerequisite for all MATV classes.
Upcoming Orientation Dates:
Wednesday, June 19th, 6pm – 7pm
Field Production
This workshop will focus on the Canon XA30, learning how to properly set up a tripod and mount the camera, and different audio recording options. Upon completion of this class, you will be able to check out field equipment and volunteer to help cover events!
The next Field Production Class
will take place on
Wednesday, June 26, 6pm – 7pm
This class is limited to 8 people. Participants must have taken an orientation class.
This class is open to ages 15+.
Post Production
Learn the basics of Adobe Premiere, including how to open and save projects, use transitions and effects, mix audio, and create basic graphics. Participants will also learn to cut clips together and learn some editing terminology.
The next Post Production Class will take place in July. Stay Tuned for dates.
This class is limited to 6 people. Participants must have taken an orientation class.
This class is open to ages 15+.
Studio Production
Learn about our Newtek Tricaster HD switcher and its functions and features. You will also learn about our studio cameras, teleprompter, lighting, and the basics of our Yamaha sound board.
The next Studio Production Class will take place in August. Stay tuned for dates.
This class is limited to 6 people. Participants must have taken an orientation class.
This class is open to ages 15+.

MATV Production Internships
Applications for the MATV Fall Government Production Internship are now being accepted!
Interns learn all aspects of video production and also gain knowledge of local government through direct interaction with department heads and elected officials. The selected candidate will assist with municipal meeting coverage, events, remote productions and studio programs, learning to operate a robotic multi-camera system, manage an array of wireless microphones and cue up live graphics.
Applicants should have an interest in learning media production, and have evening availability Monday through Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. Interested candidates should email their resume and a brief introductory statement to mike@miltonaccesstv.org, by Thursday, Aug. 1.

The Milton Foundation for Education’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year Awards is an annual celebration that lauds the best of the best among the town’s amazing educators. The schools are often referred to as the town’s crown jewels, so tune in to find out who is setting the standard and why they are so worthy of praise, when this program airs at 5 p.m. each day on the Education channel (Comcast 22/RCN 15).
Pierce Players spring production is “Mary Poppins Jr.” and the stars of the show took a moment out of their busy rehearsal regimen to give a preview of what the audience is in for, including impressive stagecraft, period costumes and the themes that connect to the actors on a personal level. 100-year-old U.S. Navy veteran Natalie Fultz was the keynote speaker at the annual Memorial Day Observance held at Milton Cemetery. Having served in WWII as well as the Korean War, she shared her unique perspective on legacy, responsibility and remembrance, alongside other speakers and musical accompaniment from MHS musicians, in this ceremony that is currently airing on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13) Tuesdays at 5 p.m. and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.
MHS musicians were back at Fuller Village for the 2019 rendition of the annual concert sponsored by the Milton Rotary Club. This intimate concert featured chamber ensembles comprising both jazz and classical styles. Tune in for this musical tradition as it airs Monday afternoons on the Public channel at 4 p.m.
Back for a second year, the Milton Art Center’s Youngblood II concert featured talented young musicians from town playing in a stripped down, folk/pop-style setting, with performers including Sky Fortes, Dominik Hyppolite, Victorian Breakfast, Edward Enyedy, Eowyn Young, Hysterical Irony, Bella Fiske, The Temporaries, Esme and Kate, Corey Hales, Ben Garrity, Pit, and more. Tune in Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13) to check it out.
Milton High recently put on its Spring Concert, featuring myriad musical groups including the MHS orchestra, string and brass ensembles, chamber groups, choirs and jazz band. This showcase of talented students covered a wide range of genres and was full of fine performances. It’s currently playing seven evening a week on the Education channel at 7 p.m.
Summer Reading is here again at the Milton Public Library, and this month’s Page Turner library update has all the information parents and kids need to get off on the right foot. See what events the library has in store for residents before people start taking off for vacation when this program airs Monday and Wednesday mornings at 7 a.m. as well as Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m., all on the Public channel.
MATV’s spring intern Chelsea Conroy did a great job helping out with production over the past three months, and the Curry College graduating senior was kind enough to be the focus of this month’s Creator Spotlight. Brian Walsh, chair of the Fire Station Building Committee, was the guest on a new “Fuller Talks.” Replacing the town’s fire stations will be one of the most expensive capital undertakings the town has even seen, and the guest spoke with the panelists about where the plan currently stands,
what the next steps are, and the best way to be involved as a citizen. Tune in for this illuminating half-hour looking at a pivotal issue for the town, when it airs on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13) at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
As the Bruins try to bring home the Stanley Cup and the Red Sox dig themselves out of the hole they dug themselves to start the season, Milton High spring sports teams head into the playoffs themselves. “Stepping Up to the Plate” host Michael Vega and his co-host Al Presutti break it all down with a local angle, with new episodes every Thursday, airing seven days a week on the Education channel (Comcast 22/RCN 15) at 6:30 p.m.
After planting seeds on the last episode, a new “Garden Path” heads back to Brookwood Community Farm to explore how the seedlings are taken from the greenhouse to the soil. In the second of a three-part series taking a look inside this local agricultural operation, viewers can learn all about techniques for staving off early-season frost, what gets planted when and how exactly volunteers are able to sow entire fields with their bare hands. Get the low down on where your food comes from when this program airs Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Friday, Saturday, Sunday at 11 a.m., all on the Public channel.
A trio of world-class musicians, comprising the cello, piano and violin, recently played a classical concert at the library. The name of the group is Trio Spirito, and one of its members, Loren Peason, teaches violin in the Milton Public Schools. Some truly fine music was played at this intimate concert, which includes some commentary from the performers as well. Catch it during Music Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. on the Public channel.
John Radosta recently published a book titled “Bob Dylan in Performance: Song, Stage and Screen.” He also happens to be an English teacher at Milton High School. “You’ve Got To Have Art” host Jeff Stoodt was able to bring the author to sit down for a chat about Dylan, particularly about the enigmatic singer’s unique vocal style, using his live performance to expand understanding of what the artist is attempting to accomplish. Any Dylan fan will find this discussion intriguing, and it is currently airing Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays at 1 p.m. as well as Thursdays at 4 p.m., all on the Public channel.
MAC Open Mic regular Eric “The Snake” Gulliksen was the featured performer at the May installment of this monthly musical potpourri. A member of Orpheus, the popular rock group of the 1960s and 70s, he brought some serious star power to the stage, mixing in with many other regulars and a few new faces. Take a listen when it airs during Music Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. on the Public channel.
It’s time for the MHS Student and Faculty Cabaret! Teachers and students teamed up to play all kinds of musical arrangements, from jazz to choral, rock to folk, with tones ranging from somber to silly. See all your favorite MHS musicians along with their mentors collaborating for a fun and memorable night on the stage by viewing this concert on our Video OnDemand website.
Representatives from the town Police and Health departments, High School, Hospital and Youth Task Force comprised a panel at the most recent Milton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition meeting, where they spoke about their organizations’ efforts to reduce substance abuse. Hear directly from these constituent members, including an overview on the youth center that is slated to go in at First Congregational Church, by watching this program on our Video OnDemand website.
After storming the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and struggling to advance through the region’s infamous hedgerows, Herb Colcord was taken prisoner by Nazi forces. Now a Fuller Village resident, he recently sat down with “A Fuller Life” host Blossom Glassman to recount the story of his capture, the months of squalor he spent in captivity, and his eventual liberation by an Allied unit. Tune in for this riveting story when this new episode airs Wednesday evenings at 8 p.m., as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m., all on the Public channel.
The Boston City Singers Tour Choir starred in the most recent Milton Community Concerts presentation, “A Message of Music.” Featuring a wide range of music, from South African folk songs to classical music, from jazz standards to gospel, this group of 40 singers, ages 12-18, came to town from many parts of Greater Boston to put on this fun and upbeat show that is currently airing on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13) at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings.
The exceptional musical offerings of St. Michael’s Parish were on display again for the church’s annual Good Friday concert, this year a Meditation in Music comprising John Rutter’s “Requiem.” The performance featured the St. Michael’s Schola Cantorum, Chancel Choir and Chamber Ensemble, the majority of which are made up of Milton residents. This program is currently airing during Music Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on the Public channel.
World champion competitive power-lifter Kelsey McCarthy is the newest guest on “Broad Appeal.” Although she travels the globe setting records and going up against the strongest women in the world, she is a true local, having grown up in Quincy, with her day job working as a physical therapist at Elliott Physical Therapy. She talks about her journey from playing soccer for Northeastern University to jumping into competitive lifting, as well as balancing life with competing and training at the highest possible level. This interview is currently airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. and Thursdays at 9 a.m. on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).
