Is your New Year’s Resolution to branch out and try new things? How about pursuing something you’ve always wanted to do? Let MATV make that resolution actually stick!
Shoot us a phone call or an email, and we’ll help you make a TV show or a film — about anything! Maybe you just want to learn how to use a video camera in a way that gets professional results, or start editing video on professional equipment. We can teach you!
It’s going to be a big year for Public Access TV, including Milton Access TV, and we are hitting the ground running, with lots of new episodes, classes and programs for the citizens of Milton.
So get in touch, let us know your interests, and we’ll work together to make your vision a reality — we can’t wait to hear from you!

Winter Class Schedule
Orientation
Want to know how to get started at MATV?
Come learn about all the different opportunities MATV has to offer.
This class is a prerequisite for all MATV classes.
Upcoming Orientation Dates:
Wednesday, January 16th, 6pm – 7pm
Studio Production
Learn about our Newtek Tricaster HD switcher and its functions and features. You will also learn about our studio cameras, teleprompter, lighting, and the basics of our Yamaha sound board.
Thursday, January 24th, 6pm – 7pm
This class is limited to 6 people. Participants must have taken an orientation class.
This class is open to ages 15+.
Post Production
Learn the basics of Adobe Premiere, including how to open and save projects, use transitions and effects, mix audio, and create basic graphics. Participants will also learn to cut clips together and learn some editing terminology.

This class is open to ages 15+.
Field Production
This workshop will focus on the Canon XA20, learning how to properly set up a tripod and mount the camera, and different audio recording options. Upon completion of this class, you will be able to check out field equipment and volunteer to help cover events!

Wrapping up the holiday season and plunging into the new year, the “Fuller Talks” panel looks back at the legacy of the late President George H. W. Bush, the upcoming Town Meeting, the Blue Hills Deer Hunt, the status of recreational marijuana in the state as recreational dispensaries open, and other topics. Tune in for this show at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m., all on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).
Professionals from the South Shore Medical Center recently stopped by the Council on Aging to give a talk that is all about diabetes. Topics covered included an explanation of what diabetes is, what causes it, steps for prevention, and what to do to minimize its negative impacts if you or a loved one is diagnosed with it. This lecture is currently airing on Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. on the Public channel.

An ancient and high-stakes boat hauling technique used by the Milton Yacht Club takes center stage in “Hauling Valhalla,” a special documentary short that was co-produced by MATV and Brian Kelley’s “Talk of the Town.” Tune in for this fascinating look at a unique and exciting ritual that is airing during the “Talk of the Town” timeslot at 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).
All your holiday entertainment needs are covered on a new “Reel Talk with Eileen Maher.” Tune in for some curated holiday favorite movies as well as songs, plus get reviews of films “Widows” and “Old Man and the Gun” along with Netflix original “The Kominsky Method.” And there are still some more surprises in store if you catch this episode that is airing Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 8 p.m. on the Public channel.
“Actin’ Up with Mel and Gigi Giraffe” gets into the holiday spirit with a new installment that is full of cheer, wintertime magic and lots of fun. The kids meet up with Gigi in this episode, which is as interactive as ever. Get into the act when “Actin’ Up” airs seven days a week at 3:30 p.m., and Monday through Thursday at 7:30 a.m., all on the Public channel.
“It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” are just a few of the holiday favorites being performed on the “Great American Songbook” annual Christmas Episode this year. And stick around after the music for a Christmas story or two read by host Jeff Stoodt, as this program airs at 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, all on the Public channel.
In light of the emotional stress that is present in so many lives at this time of year, the Milton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, in conjunction with other town organizations, recently held “Talk Saves Lives: A Presentation by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention,” which shared the most up-to-date research available on the subject, including recognition and prevention techniques. This important, informative program is currently airing during the Monday Forum at 5 p.m. on the Public channel.
Stripped down performances from Milton High School’s talented student musicians are featured in the MHS Fall Cabaret, with small groups and an informal atmosphere giving this show a whole lot of style. Tune in on the Education channel (Comcast 22/RCN 15) at 9 p.m. seven days a week to enjoy this concert.
Medical professionals from Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital recently visited Fuller Village to give a lecture on benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, explaining symptoms, commons signs to looks for as well as treatments. This talk is currently airing at 8 p.m. on the Public channel during the Monday Forum.
Mama Steph returned to a packed house at the Milton Public Library for an entertaining children’s show that is perfect for kids ages 0-5. Sing and dance along as she plays guitar, sings and tells fun and educational stories with a cast of puppets and other helpers. Tune in to the Library Children’s Hour at 2:30 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as Tuesdays, all on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13) to check out this program.
Before she was a business owner, Timika Downes worked in accounting, but she had always wanted to be a doctor. On a new episode of “Broad Appeal,” she shares the story of how helping her mother recover from an illness started her on the path to becoming a school nurse, launching Lice Clinics of Medford and paying off her student loans. Catch this interview Tuesdays at 8 p.m. and Thursdays at 9 a.m. on the Public channel.
The Fuller Village Craft Fair is an annual bazaar of holiday themed treats, many edible, some wearable and others useful or just nice to look at, all created by local artisans and residents. Host Nancy Kearns takes a tour around the fair on a new episode of “A Fuller Life” to see what the crafters have been up to. It’s currently airing on Wednesday evenings at 8 p.m., as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m., all on the Public channel.
Connie Spiros has your homemade holiday party nibbles covered, with some delicious and deceptively easy new recipes on. Beef tenderloin with a rich horseradish dipping sauce, cheese puff gougeres, a decorative cream cheese ball and olives hors d’oeuvre covered in crushed nuts and, you guessed it, cheese, are all on the menu for a new episode of “Meet Me in the Kitchen” that is now airing on the Public channel on Tuesday mornings at 11 a.m. and all weekend long at 7 p.m.
