Weekly Update for August 17, 2017

Gigi is back from summer camp and ready for more fun with her buddy Mel and the whole Kid Crew. In this new episode of “Acting Up with Mel and Gigi Giraffe,” Gigi learns all about China and its culture, while the kids get a crash-course in how to make hats, animals and more out of balloons. Get in on all the fun when this program airs seven days a week at 3:30 p.m., and Monday through Thursday in the morning at 7:30 a.m., all on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).

 

It’s hosta time on “The Garden Path.” The hardy, green, low-lying hosta plant is a staple in many backyard gardens. In this episode, Christine Paxhia is joined by a former president of the New England Hosta Society to discuss the many varieties of this species, as well as a local gardening pro who shows how to transplant a hosta safely. The Sciencetellers are the latest act to come to the stage of the Library Children’s Hour. These wacky performers take the stuff that’s in the textbooks and bring it to life in front of a live audience with hands-on demonstrations and all kinds of surprising miracles of science. Take a look when this program airs at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).

 

Qigong is the focus of a new episode of “It’s All Write with Suzette,” as author and doctor of traditional Chinese medicine Steven Cardoza comes to the studio to talk about holistic healing techniques, as well as provide some hands-on demonstrations to practice at home. Take a look when this program airs Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and all weekend long at 8:30 p.m, all on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).

 

The Milton Art Center is back with its Open Mic for August with local acts as well as featured headlining performer. Catch it on Music Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).

 

The three minstrels of Curragh’s Fancy returned to the Town Hall gazebo stage this past week with folks classics for everyone. If you couldn’t make it out to the lawn, have a look and a listen from your own home as this new installment of the Summer Concert Series airs at 5 p.m., starting off Music Thursdays, on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).
