Here’s what’s new on MATV this week:

March is Music in Our Schools Month in town, and student musicians of all ages and genres have been performing and showing off their talents.
Kicking things off for MATV’s coverage of these concerts is the Strings Concert featuring Grades 5 through 12. A host of various arrangements and combinations of strings instruments are featured in this showcase, ranging from classical to pop and contemporary. It’s currently airing on the Education channel at 8:30 p.m. seven days a week.

Not to be outdone, the Grades 5 through 12 Band Concert also took place over the past weeks, bringing the flavor of woodwinds, brass and percussion to the MHS Auditorium stage. A wide variety of groups showcase a plethora of genres, from traditional all the way up to modern rock and roll. Tune in to the Education channel seven days a week at 7 p.m. for this program.

Many of the finest opera singers in the region once again descended on First Parish Milton church for the fifth annual Sing for Their Supper charity concert benefiting the Milton Food Pantry and the Milton Residents Fund. Arias abound in this set of performances that also includes a very entertaining and lighthearted piano duet. Tune in when this program airs on Tuesday evenings at 8:30 p.m. on the Public channel.

Martin Quitt, Professor Emeritus of History at UMass Boston, continues the library’s Milton Reads “Hamilton” programming with a discussion on the musical, the Federalist pamphlets and the founding of the American Republic. Get into the nitty gritty of the history behind this smash Broadway hit when this lecture airs during the Monday Forum at 6:30 p.m. on the Public channel.
