It’s not quite advertising…

Since we’re a tax-exempt non-profit, we have to stick to our charitable mission. This means we are allowed to raise money to support ourselves, but that activity can’t veer too far away from our core activities.

What does that mean?

We are allowed to acknowledge our underwriters in a way that doesn’t provide an outsized commercial benefit to them. So we’re not allowed to do things like directly advertise sales, but we ARE are allowed to mention what businesses do and how to find them.

 It all boils down to…

At the beginning of a broadcast or program, and sometimes in the middle depending on length, we can share our sponsor’s name, logo, website, address, or phone number, and a little bit about what they do. And we can acknowledge their support for the broadcast and our station.

There is some room for flexibility, but that’s basic gist!
