Milton High Graduation
LIVE Coverage
The Milton High School Class of 2018 will graduate on Sunday, June 3.
MATV will broadcast the 2018 Commencement Exercises LIVE from the Copeland Field House beginning at 2pm on Sunday, June 3, on town-wide cable on the Education channel (Comcast 22/RCN 15).
A live stream of the event will also be available via the MATV Video OnDemand website at the following URL: http://milton.vod.castus.tv/vod/?live=ch3&nav=live
DVDs of the ceremony will be available through MATV for $15 each. Please contact us at info@miltonaccesstv.org or 617-698-0814 to request DVDs.

This class is a prerequisite for all MATV classes.

Studio Production
Learn about our Newtek Tricaster HD switcher and its functions and features. You will also learn about our studio cameras, teleprompter, lighting, and the basics of our Yamaha sound board.
Thursday, June 21st, 6-7pm.
This class is limited to 6 people. Participants must have taken an orientation class.
This class is open to ages 15+.
Field Production
This workshop will focus on the Canon XA20, learning how to properly set up a tripod and mount the camera, and different audio recording options. Upon completion of this class, you will be able to check out field equipment and volunteer to help cover events!
Thursday, July 26th, 6-7pm.
This class is limited to 8 people. Participants must have taken an orientation class.
This class is open to ages 15+.
Post Production
Learn the basics of Adobe Premiere, including how to open and save projects, use transitions and effects, mix audio, and create basic graphics. Participants will also learn to cut clips together and learn some editing terminology.
Thursday, August 23rd, 6-7pm.
This class is limited to 6 people. Participants must have taken an orientation class.
This class is open to ages 15+.

Amor Towles, best-selling author of the Milton Reads novel “A Gentleman in Moscow,” recently came to town to give a rare talk about his book. Though he doesn’t do many appearances, he happened to be in the area, and was able to speak at the MHS auditorium, as well as answer audience questions. This special program is not available online, so the only way to see it is to tune in to the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13) during the Monday Forum at 5 p.m.
Host Christine Paxhia takes viewers inside a unique Fletcher Steele-designed garden at a home on School Street in a new episode of “The Milton Garden Path.” The renowned early-20th Century landscape architect is famous for his terraced gardens, in particular his masterpiece Naumkeag in Stockbridge, but he also designed a small number of plots in Milton. Catch this rare glimpse into a private work of backyard art as this program airs on the Public channel Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m.
Summer reading is the topic of the day in the June edition of the Milton Library Update. Get the scoop on all the events coming up at the library, including a new art display in the Wotiz Gallery. Take a look when this program airs on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 7 a.m. as well as Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m., all on the Public channel.
Chef Connie Spiros returns to the screen with a delicious seafood recipe as summer approaches and lobster prices come back down to earth. Cod and lobster cakes with a creamy remoulade sauce are served alongside mint-infused couscous and a brie prosciutto tartine. Connie shows you the recipe for this dish step-by-step when a new episode of “Meet Me in the Kitchen” airs Tuesday mornings at 11 a.m. and all weekend long at 7 p.m., both on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).
“Talk of the Town” is back with two new episodes this week. First, get the full rundown of the upcoming annual Milton Music Fest and Fireworks and Celtic Sunday celebration. Festival co-hosts Brian Kelley and Lynda-Lee Sheridan preview all the attractions, and they also interview the musical duo headlining the country-themed music fest, Martin and Kelly …
… and immediately following this half-hour, Brian Kelley sits down for a chat with Chris Voehl, who is running for the Democratic nomination for the state’s 8th Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. They talk policy, biography and politics. This special double episode is currently airing Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on the Public channel.
Author Daniel Stone recently visited the Eustis Estate to give a talk on his recent book, “Food Explorer,” a nonfiction account of the life and impact of late-19th century botanist David Fairchild on the diversity of American food. Stone describes how Fairchild traveled the globe and brought back to America such crops as avocados, peaches and seedless grapes, as well as thousands more. This lecture is currently airing during the Monday Forum at 6:30 p.m. on the Public channel.
Milton Community Concerts closed out its spring season on Mother’s Day with “Women’s Voices: A Rally for Rosie’s Place,” a benefit concert for Rosie’s Place women’s shelter in Boston. The varied program focused on female composers and performers, as well as pieces highlighting women’s themes from past and present. Featured performers included vocalists Jennifer Sgroe, Nyah Macklin, Emily Tweedy and Katherine Steele, Ensemble Lyrae, and dancers from Dance Complex in Cambridge. It is currently airing on Tuesday evenings at 8:30 p.m. on the Public channel.
Boston Globe columnist Adrian Walker recently headlined a five-member panel brought together at Milton High School by the Courageous Conversations organization to discuss this past fall’s seven-part Boston Globe Spotlight series on the state of racism in Boston. Tune in for this topical and important discussion that is currently airing in the 8 p.m. time slot during the Monday Forum on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).
The Milton Art Center recently hosted “Young Blood,” a concert featuring Milton’s young performers. Musical styles ranged from R&B to jazz to rock and ballads. Acts included Sky & Sam, Dominik Hyppolite, Victorian Breakfast, Bella Fiske, Christine & Nick, The Cellar Dwellers, Maddy Hoy, Corey Hales, Anja Westhues and more. This showcase is currently airing on the Public channel during Music Thursday at 5 p.m.
And the MAC Open Mic is fresh this week too, with it’s May installment. This month’s featured performer is Bob Uvello, playing a number of original songs in a country folk style. It is currently airing in its usual time slot, capping off Music Thursday at 8 p.m. on the Public channel.
The Wakefield Estate’s landscape director, Deb Merriam, closes out this year’s Stone Soup Speaker Series with a talk that focuses on the flora on the estate’s grounds. In particular, Merriam discusses the restoration efforts that were necessary when the estate was moved into its current trust, including research on identification and classification, as well as Polly Wakefield’s relationship with the regional horticultural community. This lecture is currently airing during the Monday Forum at 5 p.m. on the Public channel.
In this month’s “A Fuller Life,” resident Nancy Kearns showcases Project Linus, a charity about which she and a number of other residents are passionate. Participants use their skills to craft blankets for children in need. Take a look at these knit and fleece works of art, as well as learn about the program, on this new episode that is currently airing Wednesday evenings at 8 p.m., as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m., all on the Public channel.
Rousanna Gevondian Curvelo, co-founder of Violet Skin Care, is the guest on “Broad Appeal” this month. Host Melissa Fassel Dunn interviews this former nurse about her jump into entrepreneurship, specific products targeted at unique consumer groups like babies with medical issues and cancer patients, as well as some of her favorite low-cost health and beauty tips. Dealing with phone and computer scams is a daily task, and Elder Affairs Officer Patty Mandeville recently gave a talk at the Council on Aging where she went over the most common current scams as well as strategies for how to be prepared to protect yourself. She was joined by Norfolk County Deputy Sheriff Sheryl Bambery, who explained the senior “Are You OK?” program, which gives regular phone calls to senior citizens to check on their wellbeing. This presentation is currently airing on Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. on the Public channel.
Ariana Iris is the guest on “It’s All Write with Suzette.” With her new illustrated children’s book “Lil Buddie and Me,” this former biotech professional discusses pursuing self-publishing, as well as her goal of writing something for her own children that would help them get to sleep as well as learn important lessons. Catch this new episode on the Public channel Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30 p.m.
Reforms to the juvenile justice system are the topic of the day on a new single-issue episode of “Fuller Talks.” Special guest Hon. Jay Blitzman, first justice in the Middlesex County Juvenile Court, joins the panel to discuss the current state of Massachusetts law enforcement as it relates to young people, examine problems in the system and take a look at possible solutions. Tune in for this enlightening discourse when it airs at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m., all on the Public channel (Comcast 9/RCN 13).
Sweden is the destination in a new episode of “Actin’ Up with Mel and Gigi Giraffe,” where Gigi learns about the country’s culture, food and language. And the kid crew welcomes spring with a seasonal poem that they learn how to tell in sign language. Join in the fun when this kid-friendly show airs seven days a week at 3:30 p.m., and Monday through Thursday at 7:30 a.m., all on the Public channel.
